Theme: Lacking Nothing – Giving All (1 Cor 1:4,7)

M&M Conference Advice
Dear WA District Leaders,
We advise that WA District Church Council met today to consider the viability/wisdom of holding our planned WA District Mission and Ministry (M&M) Conference in the light of the developing COVID19 outbreak in WA.
In coming to a decision we considered a number of factors including –
- WA Community Health information on current case numbers and projections for the future.
- Community hesitancy in the light of current uncertainties.
- Planning requirements for our host congregation
- The experience of St John’s Perth and Living Waters Lutheran College who have had to deal with a positive COVID case in their communities in recent days.
- Slow registrations for the event which perhaps reflect community uncertainty.
Above all we have kept in mind our responsibilities for the care of those to whom we minister.
In the light of these factors the decision has been made not to hold the M&M Conference on the weekend of 4-6 March as planned.
The event has been put on hold and WA DCC will now consider alternative options for the District.
No decision has been made as to what an alternative plan will look like at this stage.
The DCC meets on 22nd February and will have further conversation then.
In the light of this decision the AGM which was planned for 4th March will need to be held in some form prior to 1st July 2022.
This is in order to fulfill our responsibilities as an incorporated body, so plans will be made to attend to this requirement.
As early as October 2021 the DCC considered the possibility that the M&M conference may be impacted by community health concerns. We decided at that time to go ahead with planning and have deliberately planned a conference which could be postponed with minimal disruption and cost. We are confident that we can draw on this planning and input should the opportunity arise to reschedule the conference.
Thanks to all who have worked with us in planning to this stage.
